Asal Vaseghnia is an Iranian composer, qanun player, and music artist currently based in New York. Her work explores the intersection of Persian musical traditions, contemporary composition, electronic music, and sound experimentation. Rooted in her background in ethnomusicology and Western classical training, she is interested in creating new musical languages that connect tradition with contemporary sound. Her practice spans acoustic and electronic music, live performance, and studio production, with the qanun serving as a central voice in her musical identity.
